Day 192 - How to be happy when you're having a bad day

You know when you're having a bad day and you want to sit inside and eat food and laze around not caring about anything but you have errands to run and life to live? Well do I have a tip for you! This is a very simple little thing that anyone can do and it is the main one I will tell you about. Are you ready? Really? You want to know? Smile. That's it. Just smile :) If you're out at the mall and you don't want to be there, smile! Stand up straight and tall, walk proudly (not cocky) and smile at all the people walking past. You don't have to know them to smile at them! If you're walking on the sidewalk and there are people approaching you, smile at them  and say hi! You could also just do a slight nod in their direction and smile which works well if you have a full mouth. Wave at the cars on the highway! They often look confused but I find that it makes me happier :)  I don't know why either! Smiling makes you happy! Try it. I DARE YOU! SMILE! RIGHT NOW!! :P See? Don't you feel happy now? Imagine that you are having a bad day and walking through the mall and someone approaching you smiles at you, usually you smile back to be friendly but it will make you feel better! I don't know if this could cure depression but it cures everyday blues for me! A few other things you can do are:
- Write a letter to someone! Not an e-mail but an actual handwritten letter! Put it on some colourful paper with some stickers and send it off in the post! It might take a while but don't tell them you sent it! It's nice to receive something that isn't a bill! And hey, you might even start a nice conversation through letters with them!
- Call an old friend/ relative you haven't talked to in a while! This one you need time for though! I find the phone conversations I get into with relatives and friends tend to carry on for a while since there are usually many things to talk about!
- Bake!  Bake some chocolate chip cookies or some cupcakes and make them look pretty! Put them in a box and give them to your neighbour or your friend! They might even be having a bad day so you could be brightening their day too! Usually giving something to someone makes you feel good :) Life is about giving, not taking!
- Hobbies! (This one my mum said) She said that when she feels down she likes to read or garden, bake and other stuff too, you could craft or paint, it's not a hobby but you could go outside, maybe even take a bath!
But definitely one thing we agree on is that doing something for other people will always make you feel better, definitely smiling :)
Well thanks for viewing, keep calm and stay classy! :D Have a great night! :D
